As part of a major London construction project a fully watertight load bearing chamber was required to house 5 hydraulic pumps to operate access bollards. In order to house the units, allow room for cabling and access for maintenance the chamber needed to be 1800 x 1200 mm with a depth of 1000mm. Full access to the chamber would be required irregularly for maintenance/pump replacement. Forecourt's answer was a load bearing chamber sized to suit with a watertight modular composite cover. The cover consisted of six 750 x 750 composite modules fitted within a galvanised steel frame with removable load bearing beams.
In the final installation all the installation the hydraulic lines and power control cables will enter the chamber through seal ducts to prevent water ingress. Should you have a requirement for similar chamber please contact Forecourt who will be happy to custom design a product to meet your needs.
HMPS to use Stabiloc for Manhole Security
Security is always paramount in secure locations such as prisons so when risk assessments highlighted the need to prevent unauthorised access to sewers and underground infrastructure within HMP Stafford Forecourt Solutions were approached to suggest some secure solutions whilst maintaining access for authorised maintenance and keeping within manual handling guidelines. The solution adopted was a specially adapted lightweight high strength composite manhole cover with Stabiloc security system installed. The Stabiloc system not only secures the cover it incorporates a tamper evident seal which indicates attempted unauthorised removal.

Northumbrian Water choose Composite Covers
Following a spate of thefts from remote unmonitored sites Northumbrian Water recently approached Forecourt Solutions with a view to replacing their cast and Ductile iron covers on such unsecure locations. Forecourt have now completed the supply to a number of these installations using its modular range of composite covers and frames. They are particularly suited to such applications as they are not stolen for their scrap iron value which has increased more than 20% in the last 6 months. Composite covers now offer a cost effective quick to install alternative to traditional covers in such non-roadway applications.

New Lightweight Composite Manhole Covers (posted 14th July 2010)
New 900 mm Circular & 750 mm Square join CompositeCovers range
Forecourt Solutions CompositeCovers range of lightweight high strength manhole covers sees the arrival of its two newest covers. First to be introduced are a 900 mm circular and 750 mm square. These will shortly be joined by other sizes to enhance the range. Each cover within the range will feature our new HEX non-slip pattern and a range of security features to prevent cover and theft from your underground infrastructure. Covers, frames and optional installation skirts will be made from composite high strength material to provide market leading functionality. These units will feature Forecourts unique DirtStop seal technology to prevent the ingress of dust and debris into the sealing face of the manhole cover and are further fitted with quality watertight compression seals. As with all Forecourt products customers will benefit from high quality yet excellent affordability.
Soon to be added to the range are a 210 x 300 clear opening rectangular cover and 300, 400 and 600 mm circular manhole covers.

New Wide Base DrawPit introduced to ChamberTite Range (posted 28th June 2010)
The new CTS1150-1150 Draw Pit chamber provides a simple quick and watertight solution to your requirements for a greater than 1m x 1m drawpit chamber. Shipped in three sections to ease installation before simple assembly and backfill to your desired burial depth. Manufactured out of high grade polyethylene which will not corrode or deteriorate in the wet alkaline or acid situations. A range of two base heights and three site adjustable riser heights provide flexibility to meet your installation requirements.
The unit can be either installed beneath our own 900 mm clear opening lightweight high strength composite cover CC0900D400 or traditional cast iron manhole covers.
We can also provide a wide range of flexible entry boots to facilitate the watertight entry of ducts into the Draw Pit chamber.

Forecourt to exhibit at Infrastructure Show - NEC Birminham UK (posted 7th June 2010)
Forecourt will be exhibiting at the Infrastructure Show linked to Buildex between 18-20th October 2010. The decision to exhibit was based upon Forecourt involvement in many large scale capital projects within the UK including Dockland railway extension in preparation for the Olympics, upgrading of the of parts of the London Underground and many school and hospital redevelopment projects. Forecourts products such as composite manhole covers and watertight drawpit chamber are increasingly been specified by architects to solve water ingress issues into underground cabiling infrastructures including LV electrics, Fibre optics, Intranets and wire networks. Another NEW PRODUCT Released- ChamberTite Draw Pit Chambers
Forecourt Solutions are pleased to announce the addition of Draw Pits and Access Chambers to the ever growing ChamberTite range of products. The ChamberTite range of DrawPits is available in a range of sizes to suit most applications and to make even to most difficult projects easy we can offer a custom design service to suit any application. Each chamber is a combination of polyethylene chamber interfaced to a suitably sized cover from the CompositeCovers range. Requirements for large chambers can be met by utalising modular manhole covers with free access being achieved by the use of removable support beams. Chambers can be divided in sections to allow single chambers to be used for most than one cabling solution.
Common chamber sizes of 450 and 600 mm will be usually be held in stock to meet urgent requirements however special sizes and larger quantities will be manufactured to order.

Accident Highlights the need for Manhole Cover Security
A MAN was badly hurt as he walked along a badly lit alley and plunged into a 6ft-deep manhole whose cover had been removed by vandals. Innovia Films worker Richard Carruthers, 54, of Park Road, Wigton, Cumberland, was on his way to work in darkness at 5am on Sunday when he stumbled into the manhole. His leg was shattered so badly the bone was seen protruding through the skin. In agony and freezing conditions, he managed to haul himself from the hole and crawl back home.
This accident was avoidable had the cover been fitted with Stabiloc the vandals would not have been able to remove the cover. Read more about Stabiloc under Safety.
